Yes, I want to support Republican Women for local & state political office!

The Michigan Women's Political Empowerment Network was established to encourage women in Michigan to seek all levels of public office. Women have an important and distinctive role to play as advocates of democratic principles and protecting the rights and opportunities of all citizens. The "Pipeline" ensures there is a network for republican women to build grassroots support, exchange ideas, provide tools and develop the skills necessary for a successful run for public office.

In the past decade the number of elected women to state legislators across the country has decreased from an average of 28% to 22%. In Michigan, only 7 out of the states 148 legislative seats are held by Republican women, a dismal 4.7%. Our goal is to increase Republican women Legislative representation in Michigan to establish proportionate gender leadership.

To achieve this goal we will:

• Educate women on policy issues and how to advance those ideals
• Foster networking among republican women in Michigan
• Provide training in campaign management
• Develop a website and distribute a bi-monthly newsletter
• Develop and implement a strategy for winning women races in 2008
